The EAC supports the principles of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement

The EAC recognises that migrants and racialised people are particularly affected by the housing crisis, facing more precarious housing and housing discrimination.

The EAC recognises that many people in the global South face displacement because of capitalists in the global North, and we stand in solidarity with them. This is also part of anti-racist housing struggle.

We therefore recognise that the fight for housing justice is also an anti-racist fight.

We particularly recognise the extreme displacement that the Palestinian people are currently undergoing. Since October 2023, almost 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced. That is 1.9 Million People (UN statistic). More than 40.700 people have been murdered, and 94.200 have been injured, and that is likely to be a severe undercount. The majority of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure (homes, hospitals, schools, community centres, temples…) have been destroyed. Moreover, in the last week, Israel displaced one million people from their homes in South Lebanon and Beirut. Organisations such as Amnesty International have condemned this.

We condemn mass displacement and mass murder. We condemn ethnic cleansing and genocide, and we condemn zionism as a colonial, imperialistic and racist ideology that instrumentalizes jewishness for political and economic gain.

We refuse to be complicit in it.

Therefore, the EAC resolves to support the principles of the BDS movement, and to adhere to guidance from the BDS movement in boycotting Israeli products and services, and those of international companies that profit from Israeli human rights abuses. This includes companies targets of global boycott that are not currently on the BDS list, but that are known to profit from Israel’s war crimes and human rights abuses.

In practice, this includes not booking accommodation through Airbnb or booking.com, not buying staff computers from HP, and not catering with food from Sabra, Coca-cola, McDonalds or Starbucks.

BDS action from the EAC will last until military action is fully stopped, humanitarian aid is provided without restrictions, and Israel’s occupation of Palestine and apartheid system ends.

Many of the companies profiting off the murder and displacement of Palestinians are the same companies that harm us in the West: our struggle is united.
